NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Two separate scenes in New Haven saw heavy police presence Tuesday night. Wednesday police say a 20-year-old from East Haven is in critical condition.
Wednesday, police identified the victim of the shooting: a 20-year-old from East Haven who is in critical condition. Police have not released the victim’s name.
The shooting happened near Hurlburt at Spring Street in the Hill neighborhood. Police say the victim was driven to the hospital.
Tuesday, police blocked off Hurlburt at Spring and Hurlburt at Lamberton Street with crime scene tape and a heavy police presence.
Police report on Twitter that their response to Hurlburt is in relation to a shooting investigation.
Additionally, there was crime tape up accompanied by several officers and cruisers at the entrance to the Emergency Department at Yale New Haven Hospital main campus around 7:30 p.m.. Police seemed to be focusing on at least one car behind the tape at the ER entrance.
Around 9:30 p.m. a red sedan was towed away from the scene at the hospital, and the tape was removed. The scene has since been cleared.
