Juvenile arrested for shooting a Waterbury man

Waterbury Police arrested 16-year-old Donte Proctor on Tuesday evening for shooting a male victim on Welles Street earlier this week.

At around 9:54 p.m. on Monday, Police responded to a call on Welles Street on a report of shots fired. Police said residents reported hearing several gunshots and cars speeding off. Police discovered glass on the side of the road and spent shell castings on the street.

The victim was transported by car to Porter Street before calling 911 to report the mutliple gunshot injuries.

Detectives and forensics responded to both Welles Street and Porter Street and determinded Proctor was the shooter.

Proctor was caught and arrested after a foot chase from Chestnut Ave. to an apartment building on Ridgewood Street on Tuesday evening.

Proctor was charged Wednesday with Attempted Murder and 1st Degree Assault. He will be tried as an adult.

The adult male victim is still in the hospital. The investigation remains open and active.
