Pedestrian fatally struck by pick-up truck in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Dodge pick-up truck in New Haven Wednesday night.

Police report that the incident happened at the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and Admiral Street around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.

New Haven Police say the 72-year-old male victim was trying to cross the road with a walker.

The victim was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, police say.

The operator of the truck stayed on scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, according to police.

In a tweet, the department said they blocked off the area and encouraged drivers to avoid the intersection.
