New Haven

A Milford man accused of killing his roommate appeared in court on Tuesday.

57-year-old Ricky Garcia is charged with killing a man at a home where they both lived.

Garcia is being arraigned for the death of 49-year-old Christopher Peckham.

According to officials, Garcia admitted to kicking the victim “no more than two times” and “stomping” on the victim.

Police said they were called out to the house Sunday night. 14 people live on the property, including some of Peckham’s family members.

The Medical Examiner says Peckham died from blunt force trauma to his upper torso along with broken ribs, sternum, fractured vertebrae and a lacerated liver.

Police were out there for a long time talking with witnesses and searching the property.

They’ve responded to other altercations at the house.

The maximum Garcia could face is 20 years.

Police said they were previously there on April 24th, May 1st and May 5th for different calls.
