Diane Nesci calls it a special gift this Mother’s Day Weekend.
“One of the greatest gifts you can get on Mother’s Day is to see your child finish their degree and graduate,” said Diane Nesci. “It’s very fulfilling.”
Diane graduated from Post University on Saturday morning. She had company at the ceremony because her daughter, Catherine O’Neill, was also graduating.
Catherine’s also very proud of her mom.
“I think it’s monumental,” Catherine said. “For many years my mom had talked about going back to school and then she finally did it. I think that’s a huge achievement for her.”
“I’m really proud of her and I love her,” she said.
Mom Diane, who’s a nurse, is getting Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Daughter Catherine is getting her Master’s of Administration degree with a focus on health care.
Catherine has followed her mom’s footsteps into the health care industry and was excited to walk with her Saturday morning from Post University’s downtown location in the old Howland Hughes Department Store building on Bank Street, to the Palace Theater, where the ceremony will be held.
“For her to be finally achieving something that she’s been working for for many years that she sacrificed and put off for us is a wonderful thing,” said Catherine.
“I didn’t feel like I was sacrificing,” Diane said. “I just felt like it was the right thing to push them to do more than I did myself. “I hope it sends to her a message that no matter what’s going on in your life and you have children and a lot of family things going on that you should still take the time for yourself and to always follow your dreams.”
