It was a victory for the New Haven firefighters union in its lawsuit against the state union.
A judge ruled the union, Local 825, is effectively disaffiliated from the Uniformed Professional Firefighters Association of Connecticut.
In March, the New Haven union filed a four-count lawsuit alleging a breach of fiduciary duty against the UPFFA.
It does back to a decision by the city’s fire union in January 2016 to end its affiliation with the state firefighters.
The UPFFA argued Local 825 did not properly disaffiliate.
The judge also allowed a suit alleging the state union misappropriated funds can move forward.
