New Haven hosts the 12th Annual Run for Refugees 5k event

On Sunday, runners laced up their shoes for the 12th Annual Run for Refugees 5k in New Haven.

The 5k destination event celebrates welcoming immigrants and refugees, bringing runners and walkers together in the Elm City from across the Northeast.

The road race journeys amid the cliffs of New Haven’s East Rock Park and the historic Mill River.

The event benefits IRIS – Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services – who helps refugees and immigrants in Connecticut’s communities.

Thousands of runners took part in the event.
