New Haven PD identifies victim of fatal shooting on Exchange Street

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — The New Haven Police Department Friday identified the man fatally shot on Exchange Street Wednesday night.

Police say on Wednesday at around 11:25 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunfire on Exchange Street between Ferry Street and East Pearl Street in the Fair Haven neighborhood. 

Officers on the scene found 27-year-old Divonne J. Coward of New Haven suffering from a gunshot wound on the front porch of an Exchange Street residence. Officials pronounced Coward deceased at the scene.
