NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A woman was struck and killed by a car on Whalley Avenue in New Haven on Monday.

Police said a man called 911 around 6:15 p.m. to report he struck a woman on Whalley Avenue near Hudson Street. Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious woman suffering from significant injuries.

Judith Williams, 42, of New Haven, was rushed to New Haven Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver told police he did not see Williams in the roadway but felt the impact.

Police said investigators will be reviewing several witness statements and are attempting to locate video surveillance that may have captured the crash. The investigation is expected to take some time, police said.
