New Haven police searching for assault suspect

New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) New Haven police are looking for a man who assaulted a 21 year old city man shortly after one o’clock on Saturday morning.

The victim, Brandon Williams, suffered a back injury after being stabbed in the back on Orange Street. According to police, Williams was bleeding when he approached an officer who was working a private duty assignment near the Gotham nightclub

. Williams told the officer that he had been in a line of people leaving the club when he was shoved in the back. He claims he turned around and confronted the man when the assault took place.

Police are looking over surveillance video in hopes of getting a look at the suspect. Williams describes him as being roughly five foot seven and weighing about 170 pounds with dark hair and a beard. The injuries to Williams are not considered to be life threatening according to police.
