NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)– To protect and serve as Santa was the mission of the New Haven police department Monday.
They’re trying to make sure every child in elm city has a toy to play with this holiday season. So, they were stuffing the cruiser with toys at the Wal-Mart store on Foxon Boulevard and they’re hoping folks will come out and help them.
“So we want to stuff a cruiser. Stuff the PAL van and take some of those resources and give it to the people who need it. This is part of community policing. WE are just trying to show people we care,” said Chief Anthony Campbell, Interim Police Chief, New Haven.
The cruiser will be parked there until 3 p.m. Monday afternoon and again Tuesday starting at 10 in the morning.
The goal is to collect toys for more than 3,500 children.
