A traffic and parking employee was knocked unconscious while attending to a vehicle in New Haven on Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, the worker was assaulted from behind around 12:30 p.m. He was hit in the back of the head with either some sort of object or a fist.
Officials said the victim was checking on parked vehicles on Orange Street and was talking to another person when the incident took place.

The attacker then allegedly jumped into the back seat of a vehicle which fled the scene.
Authorities said the employee was taken away by ambulance. The employee is expected to be okay.
No arrests have been made at this time.
