North Haven firefighters tackle blaze at gun factory on Grasso Avenue

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — First responders are on the scene of a structure fire at a gun factory in North Haven Thursday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched to 7 Grasso Avenue in North Haven for a fire at 9:15 a.m.; the fire could be seen going through the roof of the building, based on the North Haven Fire Department’s photo posted on Twitter.

The fire was contained easily.

No injuries were reported or what caused the fire.

“It looks like the fire originated in the area of manufacturing where there are some petroleum-based manufacturing process that goes on.

It extended to the roof and, upon arrival, he had heavy fire and heavy smoke showing from the roof area.”

Firefighters say the damage was kept to a small area, and that they know the building well because they regularly visit it to come up with plans in case of fire.

There were concerns about some chemicals used at the factory, but they did not catch fire.

The investigation is ongoing.
