The most decorated Olympian of all time was in Connecticut on Friday night. 

Michael Phelps was the featured speaker at a sold-out lecture at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.

The all-star swimmer discussed his storied career and his challenges with depression and anxiety.

“Being able to wake up every day, continue to push people speaking out about mental health, and talking about mental health and trying to do something about that, to continuing to teach the importance of water safety. Being able to have people understand that that’s the second highest cause of death for children under the age of 14,” Phelps said.

The Michael Phelps Foundation has been promoting water safety and teaching kids how to swim for a decade.
