Physician charged with issuing bogus medical marijuana prescriptions

A doctor from Orange is accused of illegally prescribing oxycodone, and issuing bogus certifications to patients for medical marijuana.

A 55-year old doctor, Sheikh Ahmed was arrested Wednesday. Undercover DEA agents went to Ahmed’s East Hartford office. and obtained oxycodone prescriptions in exchange for cash.

Doctor Ahmed is free on $200,000 bond.  

If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
