Pieces of apartment complex structure under construction in New Haven collapse

The New Haven Fire and Police Departments responded to a partial collapse of the Audubon Apartments, which are under construction at the corner of State Street and Audubon Street.

The second floor of the building has fallen down and into the construction fence.

Officials started receiving calls at before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening from people driving and walking by the construction site.

The New Haven Fire Chief said one issue was the high winds. Officials want to make sure that nothing else is going to fall off now or in the future of the contruction.

The New Haven Fire Lt. said ther was no work being done at the time the piece collapsed.

There are no injuries and no one was inside.

The New Haven Fire Department flew a drone over the scene to get a look.
