MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH)– A police investigation is underway in the area of the Berlin Turnpike in Meriden on Friday morning for an officer-involved shooting.

Meriden police are on the Berlin Turnpike, just beyond the Flamingo Inn, for what they are calling an active scene. Two areas being investigated – Flamingo Inn and a storage facility across the way. It’s unclear if the two areas are connected or how they play a role in this investigation.

Police say Meriden officers were helping West Hartford police serve a warrant at 8:50 am Friday morning to 24-year-old suspect Kenneth Strothers, wanted for multiple armed robberies.

According to police, officers established perimeter and he ran from scene. West Hartford and Meriden officers chased him and after struggling with the suspect, police fired.

There was a firearm recovered from the scene.

The suspect is under medical treatment and New London State’s Attorney is now investigating
