New Haven

The state’s first food hub is getting ready to break ground in Waterbury on Monday.

“The Brass City Regional Food Hub” will be built on Mill Street. It will include a combination market, greenhouse and food washing facility.

The goal is to provide local farms a sanitized area to wash their produce.

It will also create fresh food access points for residents.

The new hub will create 24 new food industry jobs, as well as vocational training opportunities.
