Stolen cash register discovered inside Milford port-a-potty, 2 arrested

New Haven

A person using a port-a-potty in Milford made a strange discovery on Tuesday.

According to police, officials received a report of a cash register found inside of the portable toilet at Grove Circle Park.

Police learned that the register was from the Redwood Inn. Officers spoke with owner who had just opened the inn and learned that the register was missing.

An investigation led to the arrest of two individuals.

Officers charged 26-year-old Nicholas Melita of Milford and 33-year-old Danielle Gaetano of Stamford for allegedly entering the Redwood Inn after hours and taking the register.

Gaetano had an active warrant for failing to appear in court in September stemming from a motor vehicle arrest, while Melita was also accused of entering a gas station on Tuesday and demanding money from the register.
