Branford Police have arrested two men on firearms charges after responding to a disturbance at a local motel Friday.
Officers were called to the Motel 6 on East Main Street at around 2:00am after a report a “loud disturbance” coming from one of the rooms.
Officers located the room in question and observed a backpack on a bed with the handle of a firearm visible. Police seized the loaded .38 caliber revolver.
Investigators arrested the two people who were in the room at the time, 49-year-old Joseph Feero and 38-year-old Matthew Corbett.
Police say both Feero and Corbett denied owning the firearm seized.
Officials say both parties are convicted felons and are prohibited from owning firearms.
Feero and Corbett are facing charges ranging from criminal mischief to criminal possession of a firearm.
Both were held on a $20,000 pending arraignment in New Haven Superior Court.
