West Haven man charged with manslaughter, OUI for fatal November crash

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) - A West Haven man is facing a number of charges after police say he was involved in a fatal crash last November.

According to police, on Nov. 9, 2017, 46-year-old Robert Kryzkij was operating a vehicle on Meloy Road when it crossed over the double yellow line and entered the opposite lane. While in the other lane, the vehicle struck another vehicle before crashing into a third vehicle.

Officials say the operator of the third vehicle, 54-year-old Philip Hunt, suffered life-threatening injuries and died later that night. The driver of the second vehicle was uninjured, while Kryzkij also suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police in Orange added that Kryzkij had been involved in a crash in that town before, and that he fled from the scene of the previous collision.

Following an investigation, Kryzkij was arrested on Monday and charged with manslaughter in the first degree, operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and other charges.

He was assigned a $100,000 cash or surety bond and appeared in court on Monday.
