13-year-old arrested after report of weapon caused lockdown at a New London School, no threat found

Police investigated a report of a weapon initiated a lock down at a New London middle school on Thursday morning. 

Police say at around 9:08 a.m., officers responded to Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School, at 36 Waller Street, after receiving a report of a weapon at the school. 

The school then immediately went into lock down protocol while officers searched the building. 

Police say that there was no weapon or threat and that students and staff are safe. 

Upon further investigation, police arrested a 13-year-old male student for disorderly conduct.
