In Montville, State troopers responded to the scene of a school bus crash on Thursday.
Officials say the accident occurred on the intersection of Exit 5 on Interstate 395 northbound.
According to police, a car was attempting to pass a school bus in the area of the Exit 5 merge. While the car was passing the school bus, the car began drifting into the right lane causing a camper trailer it was towing to strike the bus’ driver side in a side-swipe.
The collision caused minor damage to both vehicles, police say. News 8 was told eighteen students on board were transported to the hospital.
Injuries were reported to be minor.
The bus is from New London Public Schools, transporting elementary magnet school students at the time of the accident.
