3 charged after fight at high school in Groton

Three people are facing charges after a fight at a high school in Groton on Monday afternoon.

According to officials, around 1:00 p.m., units responded to Fitch Senior High School after receiving a report of a disturbance.

At the scene, authorities learned that two 17-year-old juveniles were involved in a fight in a hallway.

Both were placed under arrest and transported to the police department before being released to their guardians.

One juvenile was charged with interfering with a police officer and assault on a police officer. The second was charged with assault and breach of peace.

Police said a third student, 18-year-old Brandon Hamilton, was also determined to have been involved. He was arrested and charged with assault and breach of peace before being released.

Officials said one officer was hurt during the incident when his head made contact with a wall. He was treated for minor injuries.
