OLD MYSTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — Six people have been taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London after they reportedly got sick after swimming in a pool at the Seaport RV Resort along Campground Road.

Rescue crews responded to the campground Tuesday afternoon after several people reported feeling ill after swimming at the Seaport Campground pool. Patients complained of difficulty breathing, a scratching throat, and vomiting.

Old Mystic Fire Chief Ken Richards tells News 8, a total of nine people complained of feeling ill, six were transported to the hospital. Three others, one adult and two children, refused to go to the hospital. The ages of the children hospitalized range from 3-13.

Crews from Old Mystic and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection hazmat team tested the air and water, but found no abnormal readings.

Chief Richards says a pool company will come and inject the pool with chlorine. The pool is shut down for the rest of the night, but is expected to re-open Wednesday.
