FRANKLIN, Conn. (WTNH) — A fire at a Franklin home Thursday afternoon has claimed the life of one dog.
Franklin Fire Department said the fire at 89 Whippoorwill Hollow Rd. started around 3:15 p.m. Fire crews had difficulty putting out the fire because the home is up an uphill driveway.
It took two hours to extinguish the flames.
No one was inside the home during the fire, and no injuries were reported.
Several pets were saved by fire crews; however, one dog perished.
Witnesses told News 8 that they could see the black smoke from the fire all the way in Preston (two towns away).
The fire destroyed an addition on the home and the back of the home. Fire crews are not sure if the home is unlivable at this time.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
