MYSTIC, Conn. (WTNH) – “Adventure Mystic” is giving kids with various ability levels a chance to try out different summer activities.

The sensory-friendly paddle boarding lesson is open for children between the ages of 7 and 13. Children must be able to follow one to two-step verbal directions and pass a safety screening test in order to paddle. Additionally, children must be able to swim and feel comfortable in the water.

During the lesson, children will learn safety of the water and basic paddle skills, as well as some turning, if possible.

Michelle Edwards, a full-time occupational therapist who specializes in children with sensory processing disabilities, autism, and other developmental delays, will lead the session.

“Adventure Mystic” will take place on August 12 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at 15 Holmes St. in Mystic. The lesson is $35 a person and limited spots are available.
