Attorney Jamie Sullivan said his client, Dr. Alison Burdick, has had her reputation as a school administrator and a lifelong member of the New London community called into question after the arrest of Climate Specialist Corriche Gaskin, who was fired as of Monday.
“It’s important that I speak publicly because my client’s name has maligned publicly,” said Sullivan.
Attorney Sullivan represents Dr. Burdick, who is one of four people and one of two school administrators placed on paid administrative leave regarding the investigation of Gaskin.

Gaskin is accused of having an alleged inappropriate sexual relationship with two students at Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School.
He was initially place on paid administrative leave, but was fired on Monday.
Sullivan said Dr. Burdick oversaw a different section of the magnet middle school and Gaskin did not report to her.
“She had no reason to know that he was acting in such a disgusting manor, and had she had one inkling of knowledge about this, she would have been the first to report it and prevented it from happening any further,” said Sullivan.

A letter sent to Dr. Burdick notifying her that she was being placed on leave states that it is in regard to “a concern about the handling and possible dissemination of confidential information, in which you are allegedly involved…” Her attorney couldn’t go into specifics as to what that refers, but defended her actions.
“It’s utterly baseless and her actions were justified and were done in the best interest of the children,” said Sullivan.
News 8 was unable to get in touch with Lawrence Washington, who is the other school administrator placed on leave.
