GROTON, Conn. (WTNH) – Multiple companies are on the scene of a second-alarm fire Friday morning on the Groton Submarine Base.
According to the Navy New London Public Affairs Office, a watch bystander reported a fire around 5:30 a.m. in the unoccupied housing area of Cavalla Court. When crews arrived at the scene they found two adjacent houses fully engulfed in flames.
According to Norwich Firefighters Local 892, companies from Poquonnock Bridge, Groton, New London, Waterford, Mystic, Old Mystic, Gales Ferry and Norwich assisted the Naval Submarine Base New London Fire Department with the fire.
A spokesperson from the naval base says the fire was put out in less than 30 minutes and that there were no injuries reported.
The fire is currently under investigation.
