Firefighters rescue person trapped under a fallen tree and wires in New London

NEW LONDON, Conn. (WTNH) — New London Firefighters and police rescued a person trapped under a fallen tree and wires Thursday morning.

Officials were called to the area of Ocean Avenue and Shirley Lane just after 9:00 a.m.

Emergency crews successfully extracted the victim from underneath the tree. The victim has non-life threatening injuries.

The victim was being transported to L&M Hospital.

Police are reminding people to stay away from downed power lines, and assume all wires and the things touching them are energized.
