GROTON, Conn. (WTNH) – Groton Parks and Recreation kicks off a week of events celebrating Connecticut’s Submarine Century with the annual 4th of July parade.
The parade starts at 10:00 a.m. in the area of Poquonnock Road and South Road and continues west on Route 1 to the Groton Shopping Plaza.
Groton Town Police tell News 8 to expect traffic congestion on and around Depot Road.
More than 70 floats and marching groups are participating.
The parade also features the CT Submarine Century Sub Trail, a public art project showcasing a fleet of fiberglass submarine sculptures designed and created by regional artists.
The parade is the last time all the painted subs will be seen together before they go to their host locations.
