NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH) — A 17-year-old boy is dead after a “targeted” shooting and crash Wednesday night in Norwich, according to authorities.

A 19-year-old man told police he had been driving when he was shot multiple times and continued down the road until he crashed. According to police, he said he was not sure where the vehicle was but that a passenger was still inside.

Police said they found the 17-year-old, who had also been shot, inside the vehicle in a wooded area on School Street. The teen was extricated from the car and taken to a hospital, where police said he died. It’s not clear if he died from the shooting or the crash.

Police have not yet released the name of the boy who died. The 19-year-old is in stable condition, police said.
