EAST LYME, Conn. (WTNH) — A Niantic man was arrested for an OUI after allegedly attempting to flee an accident in East Lyme Sunday evening.
According to authorities, a caller reported that her vehicle was struck by a Ford Escape on West Main Street at 7:39 p.m. Sunday night.
Police say the caller told authorities that the man driving the SUV continued traveling west on West Main Street following the accident. They say she followed the SUV and updated authorities of it’s location.
Officials say both cars were located off of exit 70 on Interstate 95 southbound. They say state police troopers from Troop-F assisted town officers
Authorities arrested 54-year-old Charles Crosby of Niantic, after he allegedly failing the standardized field sobriety tests. He is being charged with operating under the influence, evading responsibility, and following to close. He was released on a $500 non surety bond.
