Police: Pedestrian involved in Waterford fatal car crash identified

WATERFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Police are investigating a fatal crash in Waterford that occurred early Monday on Niantic River Road.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. on Niantic River Road. Police say the pedestrian that was struck was transported to the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.

The pedestrian, identified as 21-year-old Joshua Molyneux of Chester, was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 80-year-old Robert DeSanto of Waterford, was uninjured and was released from the scene.

The investigation is on-going and anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the Waterford Police Department at 860-442-9451 or the Anonymous Tips Line at 860-437-8080.
