A toddler is safe after he was found wandering by himself in New London early Monday morning.
Police say just after 4 a.m., a driver saw a toddler wandering by himself in the area of Montauk Ave. and Willetts Avenue. She stopped to attend to the 2-year-old and called police after she was unable to locate anyone around.
The toddler was then taken to L+M Hospital as a precaution for an evaluation and DCF was notified.
After an extensive canvas of the area, police say they were able to locate the toddler’s parents who were asleep at their home on Crescent Street.
According to police, it was learned that the toddler, unbeknownst to his parents, had let himself out a secured door even though his parents had been proactive in theirs attempts to prevent him from getting out the house.
The child was reunited with his parents at the hospital.
