You can paint with seals at Mystic Aquarium

New London

A new program at Mystic Aquarium will let you paint with seals!

The “Paint with a Seal” encounter starts this May, but many of Mystic’s seals have already been taught to create abstract works of art (with the help of humans).

Here’s how it works: You hold the canvas while a seal, with brush in mouth, glides colors of your choosing across the canvas. It’s fun for the people involved but it’s beneficial to the seals, too!

“Our animals are constantly learning new behaviors, throughout the day, throughout the year,” said trainer Chrissy Barth, “so it’s a really great way to keep them mentally and physically stimulated.”

You get to keep your custom abstract painting and a photographer will be nearby to snap a photo of your encounter.

Paint with a Seal starts in May and Mystic Aquarium is already booking now; it’s highly recommended that you book ahead of time!
