Proposed lodging tax would affect hotels, B&B’s and campgrounds


Plenty of taxes to talk about at the state capitol. One of those conversations is about the new proposed lodging tax.

Governor Lamont wants to increase the hotel “Occupancy tax” from 15 to 17 percent. 

Opponents say Connecticut already has the highest hotel tax in the country.

Governor Lamont is also recommending that the bed and breakfast tax go up to 13 percent. Campgrounds would also be hit with the sales tax.

The YMCA of Hartford says that tax would affect thousands of children who use their programs.
