Public Health Committee votes to raise purchasing age of smoking products

At the Capitol Friday, the Public Health Committee voted to advance a bill that would raise the age for purchasing tobacco and vaping products from 18 to 21.

The bill passed overwhelmingly.

There were 20 Yaes and only one Nay.

The chair of the committee, Senator Mary Daugherty Abrams says she voted for this bill to “Advance and protect our youth and our next generation.”
