A risque billboard is turning heads along I-84 in Tolland. It’s an advertisement for The Electric Blue Cafe and it caught the attention of Andreas Tsitos, who drove by it with his little girl and 15-year-old son in the car.
HIs children saw it, too.
“It showed too much sexual content,” Tsitos said. “I thought it was kind of racy, driving by with the family and not really appropriate.”
They got an eyeful. Tolland’s Town Manager says he’s been getting an earful from angry residents.
“In my opinion it’s a bit more vivid than I would prefer,” said Steven Werbner.
Werbner has asked the owner of the strip club to remove the billboard or redesign it so it’s not as racy. The billboard shows two female exotic dancers on either side of the sign.
The Public Relations Director at Electric Blue had this response to News8:
“I don’t see any nudity on the billboards,” said Katrina Kulakova. “In fact, it’s just nothing but girls in bathing suits.”
The Electric Blue Cafe has been in Tolland for 30 years. The billboard has been up for a couple of weeks. Kulakova says it will be removed soon, but a new one will go up in its place. The Town Manager hopes the next one won’t stop traffic.
“We haven’t received any complaints from police officers that we cause any car accidents,” said Kulakova.
