Police identify woman struck, killed by car in Vernon


VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) — Police have identified the woman who was killed after being struck by a car in Vernon on Tuesday.

The incident happened in the 300 block of Talcottville Road around 9:30 p.m.

According to police, 66-year-old Maria Oltheten, of Vernon, was struck by a 2016 Honda Civic driven by 44-year-old Ryan Casey, of Middletown.

Oltheten was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

Officers say she was walking near Tolcottville Road and Hockanum Blv; she lived on Hockanum.

Police say Casey remained on scene and is cooperating. He was not injured and no charges have been filed.

The crash remains under investigation by Vernon Police Accident Reconstructionists. Any witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Vernon Police.
