Vernon girl claims suspicious man approached her

Police in Vernon are investigating after a middle school girl claims she was approached by a suspicious male driver Friday afternoon.

Officials say just after 2:30 Friday, the girl was walking home from a school bus in the area of Tracy Drive and Vernon Summit Drive when the man allegedly made “inappropriate comments” to her.

The girl went home and told an adult who notified police.

Investigators are describing the suspect as an American-American male in his 20’s with short dark hair. He was last seen driving a dark-colored Nissan sedan.

Vernon police say the child was unharmed. They are investigating the incident collaboratively with the Vernon Public Schools.  The male did not attempt to leave his car during the incident.
