West Stafford FD: divers pull person from underwater

A dive team responded to Diamond Ledge Rd for a potential drowning in Stafford Saturday afternoon, according to the West Stafford Fire Department.

At 2:30p.m., the West Stafford FD, Stafford Ambulance and a Johnson Memorial Hospital (JMH) Paramedic were dispatched. While enroute, C44 requested Tolland County Dive team to be added to the assignment.

First responders at the scene reported a victim had gone under water, witnessed by bystanders. Several members began surface diving in an attempt to locate the victim without success.

A diver donned his dive gear and entered the water. The diver located the victim quickly, who was removed from the water, according to West Stafford Fire Department. 

The person was transported to JMH.

It is unknown what condition the person is in at this time. 

The scene was turned over to the Connecticut State Police.
