As crews work to cleanup the damage left behind by Tuesday night’s storm, it’s important to remember to never go near wires on the ground.
Downed power lines are dangerous. Never touch them!
#CTtraffic: When traveling today watch for downed or low-hanging trees, branches & power lines.
Power crews & tree crews are on the way, but if you’re cleaning up use caution around downed power lines, some may still be live. pic.twitter.com/doUNHSnnp3— CT State Police (@CT_STATE_POLICE) May 16, 2018
For safety’s sake, always assume that a power line is live. If you or your kids see these on the ground any day, remember these tips:
- Never touch a downed line.
- Avoid touching your car, or anyone who is in contact with a line.
- Keep kids and pets away.
- Don’t drive over it.
- Call 9-1-1.
