WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WTNH) — A boil water order was in effect in Windham and Willimantic Thursday evening after a major water main break. The water main has been mended, but the advisory is still in place.
The fire department reports the break created a loss of storage and pressure.
The break is on the 100 block of Boston Post Road in North Windham. The break happened just after noon on Thursday.
Friday, officials reported the break had been fixed, but the advisory was still in place because tests still need to be done on the water itself.
It’s estimated about 620,000 gallons of water was lost due to the break.
