CHAPLIN, Conn. (WTNH) — A woman died during a car crash with a state trooper’s truck in Chaplin Wednesday night.
State police responded to the crash, which occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Route 6. A woman, driving a Nissan Maxima, was traveling westbound, approaching the intersection with Nyberg Road, when she failed to negotiate a right curve.
The driver crossed over into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a Ford F-350 Department of Emergency Services truck, operated by a state trooper.
The truck rolled over onto its right side in the eastbound lane, while the Nissan Maxima stopped in-between both lanes.
The woman, identified as Lindsey Bidwell, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital where she died. The state trooper was transported to Windham Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
