Man struck by hit and run driver in Plainfield


Police in Plainfield say a man was seriously injured late Friday night when a driver struck him and fled the scene. 

Officials say just after 11:30pm, emergency crews responded to the McDonalds on Lanthrop Road in Plainfield for a report of a hit and run.

The 19-year-old victim from Plainfield told police he was riding his bike from the McDonalds to the Shell Gas Station also on Lanthrop Road. When he stopped at the 395 northbound on-ramp and saw no traffic, he tried to cross.

That’s when the victim says he was struck by a dark-colored Toyota Highlander. The car struck the victim, and continued to drive northbound onto 395. 

Police say the victim provided a partial registration plate number of the car. They believe there is damage to the driver’s side front door and quarter panel.

The victim was transported to Backus Hospital for injuries and was released.
