Officials rule cause of death in Windham house fire accidental

WINDHAM, Conn. (WTNH) - Officials have ruled a woman's cause of death accidental after a house fire in Windham on Monday morning.

According to authorities, around 4:50 a.m., firefighters learned of a fire at a home at 98 Bass Road.

62-year-old Cynthia LaFontaine was found inside after the flames had been extinguished.

She died later that day at a local hospital.

On Tuesday, the Medical Examiner's Office had ruled that the cause of death was smoke inhalation and that the death was accidental.

The blaze is under investigation.
