PD: Contractor struck and killed by tree in Chaplin

An investigation is underway by Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police (EnCon) after a tree contractor was struck and killed by a tree in Chaplin on Thursday.

According to officials, the contractor was working in Natchaug State Forest in the area of Pumpkin Hill Road just before 12 noon when he was hit. 

At the time, he was clearing trees that had been damaged by gypsy moths.

The victim is described as a 61-year-old man. His identity has not been released at this time.
