PD: Lock down lifted at Plainfield High School after juvenile is found with inoperable BB gun

Windham

A lock down has been lifted at Plainfield High School after officials say a juvenile brought an inoperable BB gun to the school.

According to officials, on Tuesday around 10:00 a.m., police responded to the high school to assist staff and security personnel.

Police say officers learned that earlier that morning that a male juvenile entered the school with another student’s parent who was there for an unrelated meeting with school officials.

While there, the juvenile was asked what he was doing and responded with information about an unrelated incident.

Police were then contacted and responded to the scene. Officers patted-down the juvenile and allegedly discovered a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and an inoperable BB gun.

Units also say the juvenile provided officers with a fake name and did not mention the weapon prior to the pat-down.

The school was placed in a temporary lock down as a safety precaution. That lock down was later lifted and class continued on a normal schedule.

The juvenile was confined to an office area before being taken into custody on multiple charges, including possession of marijuana and possession of a facsimile firearm.

Police say no students were in danger during the incident.
