A Plainfield man is facing charges after allegedly swallowing four bags of crack cocaine.

According to police, on Sunday afternoon, units conducted a traffic stop on Black Hill Road after a vehicle was speeding and had an obstructed registration plate.

While speaking to the driver, police said the passenger, 18-year-old Jeremy Hammer, appeared to be upset.

Officials said it was determined that Hammer swallowed four bags of crack cocaine.

He was transferred an emergency room and the bags were later seized by officers.

Hammer was charged with possession of crack cocaine, tampering with physical evidence and interfering with a police investigation.

He was released on a $10,000 bond and will appear in court on Nov. 26th.
